October 13, 2011, Boo Hoo Thursday

10-4-2011 Carol and Rosemary with Little Blue Maui in Maui Hawaii.

We fly out at 1:30 pm Maui time, 7:30 pm Michigan time.

Returning Little Blue Maui today, I really really liked that little blue Mustang convertible, it was very easy to drive and park.

I'm also going to rate the Lahaina Shores Resort...it was perfect for us.  Beach, ocean, grass, shade, pool, hot tub, nice beach, lounge chairs...room was very clean, beds were comfortable with clean sheets and linen blankets.  Walking to stores and restaurants.

Lots of ocean breeze and view.

I recommend highly.

I hope you all have enjoyed sharing "Rosemary and Carol's Most Excellent Adventure" in Maui.  It is a great way to do a scrapbook album.  If you have never been to Hawaii...I think it is a place you need to visit at least once in your lifetime, if not more.

Thanks again.
Rosemary

October 12, 2011, Maui Wednesday

10-12-2011  7:12 am  The Island of Lanai.

10-12-2011  The Coast Guard ship is still here, but it will leave today.
We have decided to drive south and just look at the scenery.

It is a great drive out Hwy. 30 the Honoapilani Highway and continue on Hwy. 310 trying to stay as close to the coast as possible.

10-12-2011 Warning

10-12-2011  We noticed that most of the beaches had some trees for shade, at least somewhere near.

10-12-2011 Molokini Island. "Like a crescent moon fallen from the sky, the crater of Molokini sits almost midway between Maui and the uninhabited Island of Kahoolawe. On its concave side Molokini serves as a natural sanctuary for tropical fish."

10-12-2011 This was such a beautiful beach and to visit it on our last day in Maui was a bit bittersweet.

10-12-2011 Nice to have some shade.

10-12-2011 My favorite photo taken by Carol.  This is so me in Maui.

We decided to eat lunch back at Leilani's at the Whalers Village Shopping Center (I really loved that sandwich, thanks Carol) with the view of Ka'anapali Beach.

Spent some time floating in the ocean on our rafts and lounging, then packed some, before we went into Lahaina for dinner at the Pioneer Inn, we had Fish and Chips and listened to the entertainment.  The Happy Hour crowd was still there having a good time.  Music was loud but good.

10-12-2011 The Hawaiian Island were on the outside wall by the front entrance to the Lahiana Shore Beach Resort in Maui.

"This Banyan Tree was first planted in April, 1873, and marked the 50th Anniversary of Christian missionary work in Lahaina. The tree was imported from India was only 8 feet tall. It now stands over 60 feet high, has 12 major trunks in addition to a huge core. It stretches over a 200-foot area and shades 2/3 of an acre."  It is supposed to be the 2nd largest in the world, the largest being in India. It is only ONE tree.

10-12-2011 This is the creepy whale harpooner that Carol liked.

10-12-2011 Okay, I stand corrected, he is  creepy Master Harpoonist.

10-12-2011 Banyan Tree Park in the evening. Lahaina, this Banyan tree is supposed to be the 2nd largest in the world, the largest is in India.  (This is all just one tree)

We had ice cream for dessert and did some people watching and the last window shopping.

Spent the rest of the evening watching Harry's Law.

10-11-2011 6:22 am

10-11-2011 Maui Morning.

Got breakfast at the Banyan Tree Deli and Bakery, bought coffee at one of the coffee shops and sat on a bench by the sea wall in Lahaina and ate our muffin breakfast.  It was very good.

On our way back to Lahaina Shores we bought two inflatable rafts, Carol green, mine pink.  We spent  the day floating in the ocean from 11 am to 3:30 pm.  Well, we floated, got some sun, read and relaxed.

10-11-2011 There's the Coast Guard and the Sight seeing Sub.

10-11-2011 Atlantis Submarine, 48 passenger sub out of Lahaina. 40 minute ride for about $100.00 bucks each person.  It cruises the reef for sealife.

We dressed up in our Hawaiian long flowered dresses and walked to the Maui Theatre in Lahaina and enjoyed the "Ulalena" play, it was a beautiful depiction of Hawaii's history.

10-11-2011 The cast of Ulalena.  The new era of golden people face their future as the "Llalena rain embraces them - their essence and spirit molded into a way of life that is close to nature.

10-11-2011 The Ulalena Program.

After that we had dinner at Lahaina's Hard Rock Cafe.

October 10, 2011, Maui Monday, Columbus Day

10-10-2011 8:17 am  Another beautiful picture from our balcony of Lanai Island early in the morning.

Road trip day, went off to the north of Lahaina to explore.

Stopped at Ka'anapali Beach.

We visited the Whalers Village Shopping Center, very nice shops and the Whaler Museum.  It really was the best museum that we went to, it was very interesting.  They had displayed a lot of the letters that the men wrote home about actually being on the whaling ships and the whaler's life.  One I'd go back to.

Had lunch at Leilani's with Ocean view, beach side.  I loved their cold chicken sandwich probably the best of anything I ate in Maui.

The beach there has view of Lana'i and Moloka'i Islands.  Just a little farther north is the Black Rock ( Pu'u Keka's) they have a nightly cliff diving ceremony.

10-10-2011 Looking north from the Whaler's Village you can see the Black Rock.

10-10-2011  The Black Rock in front of the Sheridan Resort.

10-10-2011 There is a nightly cliff diving ceremony.

10-10-2011  The Kaanapali Beach is 4 miles long and one of Maui's best beaches, with grainy gold sand.  We did see a turtle here swimming...but he was camera shy.

10-10-2011 Kaanapali Beach and the Island of Lanai.

10-10-2011 The view from the restaurant.

10-10-2011 Leilani's Restaurant, there where like 3 or 4 restaurants here.

2011 A whale bone display.

10-10-2011 The Whale Museum was off to the left.

10-10-2011 View of the West Maui Mountains.

10-10-2011 Here are some of the trees I loved.  They were brought here to provide shade for the workers.

10-10-2011

10-10-2011 When we left the WhalerVillage Shopping Center we went North and found a little drive that took us on the North side of Black Road.

10-10-2011 This was very pretty and had a lot less people here.

10-10-2011 It was probably still considered Ka'anapali Beach, but I'm not sure.

10-10-2011

10-10-2011

We than came back to Lahaina and sat by the pool and enjoyed the afternoon breeze and sun.  Then off to dinner in Lahaina.
