October 5, 2011, Maui Wednesday

Got up at 4 am.

There was a cruise ship out front!

This morning we are going to tour Maui to the north in Little Blue Maui. Headed left on Front Street, turned right on Shaw, then left on Hwy. 30.  The roads are really nice, speed limit is 35, 45 and 55 mph, but really not much of the 55 mph.  There are easy places to pull over and let faster traffic by.  I really enjoyed driving there, I loved the scenery and the curves.

We drove north until Carol made me turn around, you see, there is a place where the road goes to one lane for about a mile and a half, there are no guard rails and no place to turn around.  She said that my contract with Hertz forbid me to travel that road.  Well, you know I kind of wanted to, sort of...but I didn't.  It is past Honokohau and before you get to Kahakuloa.

So, we turned around and headed back Lahaina way, thoroughly enjoying the scenery.
We stopped at a scenic lookout point and had our pictures taken with Little Blue Maui by a very nice man, when people see you taking photos and there are two of you, they often ask if you want them to take a photo of you together, and we did the same. 

  Carol found a really nice open air Mall in Wailea.  I visited a Tiffanys store, a first for me and several other high end shops. Wailea is noted for it's premier resort area, expensive resorts and heavenly beaches.  (Heavenly beaches..they all seemed heavenly).

There were tons of surfers, most pickups there are fitted with surf board racks.

For dinner we went back to Lahaina and walked to Da Kitchen and had dinner, then got back to our room to watch Harry's Law.
